Saint Valentine

I find it as a large insult and disrespect to the man who made this day possible when humans pass over gifts during this date. Love is not shown through gifts or cards and such. Reason being that gifts carry monetary value and tangibility. I only came to realize this after making sense of what female friends shared with me how they hated guys to give them gifts or flowers even on a normal day. On a side note, giving should be in the spirit of purely giving with no strings or LOVE messages attached for this case.

I personally couldn't see how an "I love you" would mean anything in a teddy bear holding machine printed hearts which was probably factory made in china. Okay fine, be it made by LV or Gucci, it wouldn't make any difference. It was mass produced and perhaps a million others are sharing that same design and passing them around. Love to someone is too unique to be represented by something mass produced. At the same time, a tangible good would give it a materialistic translation as well. So seriously, if you are a helpless romantic and really like someone but wanna showcase the best of your sincerity and honesty through something, i can only think of giving hope & faith to the person. For roses and hello kitty blow up dolls would end up collecting dust in the corner of the room and perhaps be stepped on and thrown into the rubbish chute for a street bum to use. However giving hope & faith to someone you care for would empower him or her to go beyond their current state and perhaps reach boundless boundaries in life.

Saint Valentine was jailed and executed in his efforts to preserve the possibility to pair a couple when men with power blinded with money, greed and power ruled the world. I raise a toast to all women and men who have fought long and hard to preserve their believe in the purity of love. And for the all others who have yet to discover the limitless power of love, "i pray that God shines light in your heart enough to light up a thousand lifetimes."

This was one of my earliest influences on love when i was perhaps 3 or 4 years old. Its no surprise how the meanings to the words of this song has grown more and more value to me as the years went by.

Everything i Do, I Do it For You - Bryan Adams

Look into my eyes - you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart - search your soul
And when you find me there you'll search no more

Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

Look into your heart - you will find
There's nothin' there to hide
Take me as I am - take my life
I would give it all - I would sacrifice

Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more
Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

There's no love - like your love
And no other - could give more love
There's nowhere - unless you're there
All the time - all the way

Oh - you can't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more
I would fight for you - I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you - ya I'd die for you

Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you
